Bettie A. Crews, 90 of 630 Hodnetts Road, Gretna, Virginia passed Friday night (08-20-10) at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 15, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Crews and Mrs. Louise Pannell Crews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Birdis Crews and Monnie Towler and five brothers, Willie, Jimmie, Johnny, Lester and Walter "Babe" Crews.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Hurt, Virginia.
Miss Crews is survived by three daughters, Linda Hill (Archie) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Gunnie Postell and Shirley Clements (Rev. Carl Clements), all of Gretna, Virginia; two devoted nieces, Brendle Stone (Donnie) and Paulett Stone (Rev. Kell Stone), all of Gretna, Virginia; a devoted nephew, Willie Crews, Jr. of Gretna, Virginia; one sister, Mildred Carter of Chatham, Virginia; a brother, Pete Crews of Washington, DC; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday (08-25-10) at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Hurt, Virginia by Rev. Nathaniel Jones. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday (08-24-10) at Miller Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m.
